The People's Emergency Briefing
Friday September 4th

We invite you to a local screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film on the threats to British life from ongoing damage to nature and to our climate.

The film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, bringing together leading UK experts in food security, health, economics, climate science, national security and nature. It presents a calm, evidence-based overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life - and what the science says about risks and responses.

The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and supported by a wide range of organisations, including the Church of England, National Trust, WWF, the Royal Meteorological Society, and many others.

We believe this is an important moment for thoughtful and compassionate local dialogue. Following the 50 minute film, we will host a structured discussion about what this means for our community.

The event is free but to prevent over-crowding we ask you to reserve a ticket at this website (opens in new tab) - or pick up one from Brill Stores.

Please email Andy Cotgreave if you have any questions.

Community litter picking equipment

Want to help keep Brill tidy? The Parish Council has put everything you need - pickers, hoops, bags and hi-vis - in a fine new storage box adjacent to Brill Fire Station in Temple Street. Just help yourself when you feel inspired and, when you’re done, drop your finds in the two bins provided (one each for general waste and recycling).

Thank you to Cllr James Tuffley and Bucks Fire and Rescue Service for enabling this initiative.

Parish Council Business

Meetings

Read the draft minutes of our July meeting. Our next meeting will be Tuesday September 15th. The agenda will be published here nearer the time.

Members of the public are very welcome to attend our monthly meetings. Time is set aside at the start of the meeting for you to speak about items on the agenda - or any other topics of community interest.

MOD Bicester Proposed Asylum Accommodation

The Parish Council is aware of the Home Office's announcement that it intends to use part of the former MOD Bicester site (near Piddington) for asylum accommodation, as part of a wider national programme to end the use of hotels for this purpose.

We understand that no formal consultation has yet taken place with neighbouring parishes, and that details on scale, timescale, and impact on local services remain limited. Given the site's proximity to Brill, the Council is monitoring developments and will engage with Buckinghamshire Council, our County Councillor and MP, and neighbouring parish councils as more information becomes available.

We will update residents through the newsletter and website as the situation develops. Residents wishing to raise their own views directly with the Home Office or their MP are welcome to do so individually.

Notice of Conclusion of Audit

See the Notice of Conclusion of Audit (pdf opens in new tab). The audit of accounts for the year ended March 31st 2026 has been completed and the accounts have been published. Contact Bobs Damerell (Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer) or drop in to the Parish Office in Brill Memorial Hall on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9.30am to 11.30am.

View the Annual Governance and Accountability Return for 2025/2026 (pdf opens in new tab).

Brill MUGA

The all weather surface of our MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) is marked up for football, netball, basketball and tennis - or just running madly around! Book a 30 or 60 minute MUGA session - or just turn up and play (so long as nobody with a confirmed booking appears).

Now with new permanent flood lights - and bookings extended to 9pm.

Brill Show, September 13th

Just six weeks away - but still plenty of time during the holidays to take some photos*, finish off that piece of tapestry, water your sunflowers, feed those tomatoes - and get the children busy with their entries (anyone for Playdough modelling - or an ambitious Lego display?)

Browse all 151 classes on this website (and enter on-line) or pick up a schedule in Brill shops.

*These are the 2026 photography classes -

  • 149. A colourful photograph

  • 150. A photograph from a different angle

  • 151. Wonderful nature (in celebration of Peter Davis)

Shady Walks!

No, not an episode of Midsomer Murders; a selection of three delightful walks through fields and woodland, two starting and finishing in the village and the third based in nearby Bernwood Forest. Enjoy.
